Triple guitar houseconcert - February 23, 2006

On Sunday March 26, I'll be performing in a triple bill with Rico Stover and Daniel Weston. Rico is the schollar who edited all the Barrios publications, and Daniel is a fine classical player with a sensitive Spanish touch. Details in the calendar.

New Guitar Recital Series - December 29, 2005

The Los Alamos Guitar Council will be offering a new guitar recital series in 2006, thanks to the efforts of Dr. Greg Schneider.
The venue is the Fuller Lodge.
Greg is a fine guitarist, with whom I played The Beggar's Opera for the Santa Fe Opera, and I hope he'll be playing there soon.

Jazz from the past... - December 29, 2005

I've recently heard from two cool jazz musicians I had not heard from in years: Conrado Paulino, with whom I studied in the mid 80s (www.conradopaulino.com.br/) and Joe Weinberg, who studied with me at the University of Arizona in the mid-90s. Conrado's in Sao Paulo, Joe's in Boston. Check them out!

Thank you all who bought our CD at CDBABY.COM recently. Combined sales of all the musicians enrolled in the effort, plus the donation of CDBABY's handling fees, amounted to more than $200.000.00 to the Red Cross's relief effort.

Back from the GFA - October 29, 2005

Steve Aron put toghether the best GFA in years. The level of playing was tremendous, and the concerts were varied and outstanding. Jerome Ducharme won the competition. I'll be trying to bring him, Dominic Frasca, and Duo46 to play in Santa Fe this year.

Roland Dyens birthday at Gig - October 15, 2005

Phenomenal guitarists Michael Lich, Benjamin Silva, and Joseph V. Williams II celebrate the birthday of their favorite guitarist/composer, Tunisian/French Roland Dyens, playing a lot of his music on his birthday, October 19, 8PM at GiG, 1808 Second Street, Santa Fe, as part of Classical Wednesdays. A special thanks to Joe Williams, who has been very generous with his time helping me prepare for the GFA.

More Sol - October 15, 2005

Sol Cafe has extended their musical offering through December, so we're adding nine more solo guitar performances. It's a small room, so reservatons are a good idea. I play whatever I feel like, from the Bach Chaconne to Walton Bagatelles. All accoustic. Check out the Calendar for dates.

Tickets for sale - September 13, 2005

Duo Guadalupe performs four Paganini sonatas and two Carulli Serenades on October 7th at the historic Santuario de Chimayo in Northern New Mexico. Seating is very limited and tickets are only available in advance. Details in the Calendar.

After a few years I've got the itch to do little competing again, so I'll be in the Guitar Foundation of America Solo Guitar Competition in October. I'll have the pleasure to prepare for it with Joe Williams, who'll be there too.

Santa Fe Bluegrass Festival - August 26, 2005

Ainadamar Festival - July 16, 2005

Celebrating the new production of Osvaldo Golijov's opera Ainadamar, the Santa Fe Opera will be ofering a series of performances about the lives of Federico Garcia Lorca and Margarita Xirgu. "LORCA: LANDSCAPES & IMPRESSIONS", August 5 through 20 should be a blast, the musical director is Gonzalo Grau.

The Leitner sisters are great performers. I had the pleasure to teach Gnevieve years ago, and we recently played toghether in Abiquiu. Cecilia's singing is also extrordinary. They have been studying at the North Carolina School for the Arts for a few years now.

This concert features music of Martini, Schubert, Mertz, Brouwer, Pernambuco, San Andres, Gounod, Tarrega, Blanch, and New Mexican Songs. They just performed this program in the Illuminations Series in North Carolina.
