I'll be doing a little New Mexico and Colorado tour from July 29th to August 2nd with guitarists Daniel Weston and Stuart Green. We did this split-bill series a couple of years ago and had a blast. Details in the calendar.
New on the MP3s and Videos section - three videos from a concert with flutist Tracy Doyle - "Barbara Allen," "House Carpenter," and "Cindy" from Robert Beaser's "Mountain Songs"
Cruise around - the basic graphics are the same, but I've been overhauling the format and content of the site. For example, I've added videos to the MP3 samples page, and updated the links - I hope you like it.
Just got a note from luthier Robert Ruck that he's started making me a new guitar! This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have arguably the best guitar maker in the world build me a custom instrument.

I'm looking forward to hearing the mastered recording of the new CD - just got some good news about it!
Luthier Jeremy Cooper has agreed to make an instrument for our guitar program at Adams State College. That will certainly be a boost for our young talented players! http://www.jscooperluthier.com/
Here's a video of the encore for a concert in Colorado: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSo-KHRv4d8
I'll start working on having a video page on this site soon. Enjoy!
I've added a few MP3s of snippets of wedding selections - in the MP# page.
Yesterday, I just finished editing the last track for the upcoming CD "Music of Spain." I'm excited to hear the final mastering soon. Two new recording projects include some of my favorite Latin American composers: Piazzolla and Gismonti. I love my job.

After a week of see turtles, crocodiles, birds, iguanas, margaritas, snorkeling sun burn, cave diving, and almost too many hours of dancing every day, I need a break. So I'm back to work.
I'll be away from work until February 1st. For bookings, please contact Absolute Entertainment at 505 986-5882.
Here's a live performance of Francisco Tarrega's "Capricho Arabe" from concert in Colorado in 2009. Recorded on a little Zoom H2 on stage, but the sound's good. The studio version is ready for the upcoming CD release - sing up for the email list and I'll keep you posted. If the flash player doesn't start automatically, go o the MP3 page, and click on "Spanish guitar." It's on the top of the list. Enjoy.
My friend Hunter, who had moved out west a few months ago, is back in Santa Fe - and in the neighborhood! Hunter studied guitar with Frank Koonce at ASU, and is looking for students.
Stay tuned for the final date on this, but I just spoke with Gabriel Ayala about a series of shared concerts, including duos - Piazzolla's Tango Suite included!
I guess we all have an episode of GAS (guitar acquisition syndrome) every ten years or so... It looks like Robert Ruck will be making me a guitar this spring - I know I said that last year, but you can't rush these guys. Plus I've been waiting since 1993, so what's another year or so? Also, I just commissioned a guitar by Jeremy Cooper, a very fine new luthier, and I'm trying to get a guitar of his for Adams State College, and for some students. I really can't imagine better guitars than the Abreu and Giussani I've loved for years - in their styles - so the new ones are dramatically different.
Wishing all the best to the incredible singer, songwriter and sound engineer Joey Bradley, who just moved to Hawaii. He'll fix your Mac too, but they never break...
Dr. Klickstein is an extraordinary musician and a masterful teacher. He's just published a new book, and everybody should buy it. Check it out at http://www.musiciansway.com/
I just finished the last recording session for "Music of Spain," the CD due this fall. Now the editing begins...
A big THANK YOU to Scott Cardenasso for the recording engineering at JOOTS!
Come hear music by de Falla and San Andres, plus readings by novelist RICK COLLIGNON and poet RENEE GREGORIO. Details in the calendar.
