It looks like I'll be playing with the Santa Fe Opera this Summer, doing Wozzeck. More details soon.
December 11th in Arroyo Seco and December 12th in Taos, both at 3pm, with the Taos Community Chorus, Tina Sandoval Conducting. Details in the calendar.
This is such a wonderful piece, and not often played, so it's been a treat to play it so many times this year, first with the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, then with the Madrigal Choir from NMHU, and now with the Taos Community Chorus.
We had a stunning recital last night to a sold out house!
Eduardo Minozzi Costa,Brazil - 4th prize
Lars Rosvoll, Norway, - 3rd prize
Matthew Palmer, USA - 2nd prize
Renato Serrano Munoz, Chile - 1st Prize
Saturday's semifinal round was also beautiful -
it's been an honor to be in the judging panel this year.
After playing a wonderful program with the Desert Chorale this sumer, I'll be playing Tedesco's "Romancero Gitano" again in November with the Madrigal Choir from New Mexico Highlands University, then four performances in Taos, Dixon, and Arroyo Seco with the Taos Community Chorus.
I just my first long-distance lesson with Skype. It works beautifully! I'm starting with current students who've had to move away, and will be expanding from that.
I'm honored to act as a judge for the 2010 Beeston Guitar Competition, as part of the Second International Guitar Festival at the University of Arizona, November 6 and 7. Then, for the remainder of the week, I'll be doing a workshop with Sergio and Odair Assad, the best guitarists in the world.
There's a possibility we can have a clear, cosistent policy in the works. Support it by signing this:
Check out a couple of new videos, and the old ones, if you haven't had a chance yet:
This semester's students will enjoy a brand new guitar by Jeremy Cooper. it just arrived. Double top, raised fingerboard, soundports, and killer looks to boot.
Now it's "Santa Fe University of Art and Design." I'll update the links as soon as their new website is up.
Two shows, Saturday and Sunday August 21st and 22nd, at the College of Santa Fe. Details in the calendar. Don't miss Gabriel's performance - we're very lucky to have him include Santa Fe in his touring schedule!
As of this morning, it's official. Starting this fall, I'll be collaborating with the NMSA - a brand-new charter high-school in Santa Fe. I'll be coaching guitarists and running one ensemble.
The Santa Fe Reporter says about the Three Fabulous Guitarists 2010 tour: "Daniel Weston, Stuart Green, and Roberto Capocchi come together to freak you out with how good they are at playing guitar."
On the road for the next week. Concerts with Stuart Green in Las Vegas, Santa Fe, Taos, Espanola, Alamosa, and Angel Fire, then coming back to Santa Fe for another performance with the Desert Chorale.
Live playing and a chat with Carol Boss.

The blog is up and running - check it out, comment ask questions, criticize with no mercy!
There's an article by guitar teacher Jamie Andreas, some comments about the new guitar, a brief description of my "Five Step" process for learning new music - my students call it "five-stepping," and the liner notes for te new CD. Next I'll post some comments about a great article by Gerald Klickstein.
It's a stunningly beautiful, amazing sounding, incredibly comfortable guitar by Robert Ruck. After waiting so long, I was afraid I'd built up crazy expectations, but it's still blowing my mind.
"Roberto Capocchi Plays Spanish Guitar Music" will be available starting July 7th.
Thanks to Scott Cadenasso for the recording and mastering, Aaron Grad for the liner notes, Jason Moss and Ben Chrisman for the photos, and for the designers at DiscMakers.
Music by Albeniz, Turina, Regino Sanz de la Maza, Tarrega, and more.
I just received the text for the liner notes for the Spanish music CD, written by composer and Washington Post music critic Aaron Grad. He writes program notes for the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra, and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.

It looks like the new guitar is going to be ready late June. Robert Ruck composite top, raised board, Madagascar rosewood, custom set-up. I can hardly wait.
Steve Paxton is coming back to the helm of CSF's CMP. This is a truly unique program, so I'm very happy it's up-and-running again. and looking forward to this fall. Returning students get 35% lower tuition. And a brownie.
To celebrate, I'm bringing Daniel Weston and Stuart Green to do a three-part split bill with me July 30th, and Gabriel Ayala for two shows late August!
