Holsclaw Hall - University of Arizona

David and Leonard Schaeffer Memorial Guitar Competition

1017 N. Olive Road
Tucson Arizona 85721
USA [map]

The "David and Leonard Schaeffer Memorial Guitar Competition" supports the work of outstanding undergraduate guitarists at the University of Arizona's Bolton Guitar Studies Program.  I had students compete in it years ago, even win, and many of it's laureates have gone on to international fame.  It is an honor to be in the judging panel for the final round this year - and it's always a pleasure to listen to these players!

Adams State College - Music Building

Master-class - Retrieval Points - 6pm

208 Edgemont Boulevard
Alamosa Colorado 81101
US 719-587-8191 [map]

I am offering a series of master-classes and workshops at Adams State College this semester.

In this workshop we will explore "Retrieval Points" - a practice tool that:

  • Sustains concentration during long practice sessions
  • Strengthens memorization
  • Increases performance confidence
  • Saves time when maintaining a large repertoire
  • Facilitates mental practice
  • Makes pieces a lot easier to brush up after not playing them for a while

This s a simple tool - you probably already use it! Learn to use it to its fullest potential.  The examples will be from guitar pieces, but this tool works well for any instrument, and voice.
